When it comes to losing weight, it’s essential to do it safely and sustainably (even when taking GLP-1 peptides).
A healthy weight loss rate:
While trying to lose weight quickly can be tempting, slow and steady wins the race regarding shedding pounds. Losing weight at a rate of 1-2 pounds per week may not seem like much, but it can lead to long-term success. Rapid weight loss can often result in muscle loss and a drop in metabolism, making it more challenging to maintain weight loss in the long run. Aiming for a modest 1-2 pounds per week makes you more likely to lose fat than muscle. This gradual approach also gives your body time to adjust to the changes, which can lead to better weight maintenance in the future.
The use of GLP-1’s and Weight Loss:
We all lose weight at different rates. Some patients will start GLP-1 peptides and lose more weight in the beginning due to a loss of inflammation or water weight. This is normal and will even go out over time when on the peptides. Eventually, we want to get the patient to a more stable weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week, as mentioned above, or else dosage adjustments may need to be made for a safer experience with the products.
It’s not just about the scale.
It’s important to remember that weight loss is not just about the number on the scale but also about overall health and well-being. Look for bright spots along the way and measure your success in other ways that don’t involve the scale, like taking weekly photos, seeing how your clothes fit, compliments received, and taking down body tape measurements. Slow and steady wins the race:
Slow and steady weight loss is more likely to be sustainable and can lead to better overall health outcomes. In conclusion, aiming for a weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week is a healthy and sustainable approach. It may not result in rapid changes, but it can lead to long-term success and better overall health. Remember, the journey to a healthier you is a marathon, not a sprint.
Appreciating every single pound lost:
What we appreciate, appreciates. Oftentimes, I hear people use the word “only” when they mention how much weight they have lost.
“I only lost a pound this week.”
Weight loss happens one pound at a time. Whether someone is losing 10 pounds or over 100 pounds it all happens the same way – just little by little.
Get into the habit of appreciating every victory along your body transformation journey, and you will appreciate the bigger end result more.
Alignment of habits:
Keep in mind that fat and weight loss are best achieved by adopting proper habits, such as drinking water, getting adequate sleep, eating whole foods, exercising, and having a healthy mindset.
